MONDAY, October 25 saw Downes Crediton Golf Club seniors compete for the David Moss Vase, an individual stableford, and with the course in superb condition it was Jim Matheson who produced a superb 40 points to win overall and top Division One.

In Division Two it was a close fought affair with Mark Walker taking the victory scoring 38 points and beating David Moss (38pts) into second by virtue of a better back nine.

On a tough Wednesday (October 27) John Rance scored an impressive 38 points to win the Midweek Stableford by three clear points from second placed Eric Fee (35pts).

The trio of Viv Bailey, Angela Dunnill and June Mitchell were in fine form on Thursday, October 28, as they swept to great victory scoring a six under par nett 67 in the Step Aside Texas Scramble.

Following in second were Sue Barr, Anne Woodger and Di Parsons posting a nett 69.

Downes members played the annual Daily Mail Foursomes on Saturday, October 30 and there was some great scoring in the tricky format.

Best score of the day and victory went to the duo of Tony Blackburn and Graham Knowles posting a very impressive nett 63, three shots clear of second place pair Neil Bishop and Gerry Tomlinson (nett66).

Graham Browne and Jim Dunlop (nett70) followed in third.
