AS the winter draws in, Downes Crediton clubhouse comes into its own for other, non-golfing activities.
The Winter Quiz League has started, with the first two quizzes being supported by over 40 players enjoying a nice supper and keen competition.
As December’s weather affects the golf, the 19th hole provides a relaxing welcome respite.
The weather conditions were pretty shocking last Saturday, but it didn't seem to bother Club President Peter Blinkhorn, and Bolton FC fan Mike Charnock.
They ran out clear winners with an impressive 43 points in the 4ball/better ball stableford.
Father and son partnership, Darren and Matt Russell pipped Stuart Willis and Dan Brown into second on countback with 39 points.
Excellent scoring considering one of the holes, the 13th, was out of action whilst drainage work is being undertaken, as part of a considerable schedule of course improvements which are taking place over the winter.
