THREE players from Downes Crediton Golf Club Seniors travelled to Staddon Heights on Wednesday, February 26 to play in the latest DMVGA Winter Series and produced a fine performance to finish as very creditable third.
On a tough windy day the trio of Peter Stunell, Alan Draper and John Warren scored 79 points, playing a team two scores to count stableford, to finish third out of the 33 teams only being beaten by winners Yelverton (84pts) and Teign Valley (79pts).
Downes Crediton members secured a fine victory in the Devon Golf Captains Team Event on Thursday, February 27 at Saunton Golf Club.
Clubs from all over the county took part but the Downes quartet of David Slee, Quinn Payne-Cook, Alex Williams and David Taylor produced betterball scores of 40 and 36 to take an impressive five shot victory over their nearest challengers.
