MONDAY, June 5 saw Downes Crediton Golf Club seniors play their June Medal from the white tees.

On a wet and windy day Simon Mannell scored a fine level par nett 70 to beat Jim Downing (nett 70) into second with a better back nine holes and take the overall victory.

Mannell and Downing also took first and second in Divison One whilst George Crabbe posted nett 71 to win Division Two with Bill Dick (nett 72) second.

Martin Garnsey stole the show in the Midweek Stableford on Wednesday, June 7 scoring a gross one under par 69 off of his four handicap to post 41 points and take the win. Tony Wonnacott scored 39 points to finish second whilst Tim Hudson (37 pts) came third.

On Thursday, June 8, a blustery and wet day, Downes ladies played their County Stableford Six and Grandma’s Cup.

Ying Wong scored a very impressive 39 points to win overall and take the Grandma’s Trophy with Liz Mapson posting 37 points to finish second. Lyn Parry scored 32 points for third.

In the Thursday Evening Stableford Sam Hills scored 20 points to win.

Saturday, June 10, another breezy day, saw a number of Downes Men embrace the challenge to score well in Saturday’s Ollie Cockayne Memorial and June Medal.

Adrian Cram took the overall victory scoring a superb five under par nett 65.

Cram also won Division Three with Adam Westle (nett 69) in second place and Wayne Moore (nett 70) in third.

Four players scored nett 68’s in Division One with Steve Whyte taking top spot whilst Kev Cole came second, Ollie Greenslade third and Jim Dunlop in fourth.

Daniel Knight won Division Three with a nett 67 with Gerry Hodder posting a nett 79 to finish second and Eddie Yeandle (nett 72) third.

Ollie Greenslade won the scratch prize scoring a gross 72.
