ON Monday, April 25, a breezy day, Downes Crediton Golf Club seniors played a roll-up Stableford from the yellow tees.

Winning with a solid 38 points was the the ever-consistent Tom Berry beating Cedric Chapple into second place by two clear points (36). Four players posted scores of 35 points but taking third place courtesy of a better back nine holes was Alan Draper.

Once again Wednesday, April 20 saw Downes members compete in the Mid Week Stableford and winning by nine clear points was Jim Hutchison.

Jim, who has been showing form in recent weeks, carded a huge 44 points to see his handicap tumble three shots from 21 to 18 and beat Patrick McVeigh into second place.

On a beautiful day with the course in fantastic condition Downes Crediton hosted their annual Gents Invitation on Saturday, April 23.

With a stiff breeze building as the day progressed scoring was not easy but dealing best with the conditions to take victory were Downes’ member David Coren and his guest Adrian Bridle from Came Down in Dorset.

Their 41 points total beat Colin Baker and John May into second by a single stroke with Tristan Kershaw and Chris Hart third scoring 38 points.
