DOWNES Crediton Golf Club held its four ball better ball seniors open on Monday, May 13 and it was the home pair of David Lee and Colin Parr who took home the top prize with a fantastic score of 44 points.
Peter Russell and Simon Mannell finished in second place also with 44 points but losing to a better back nine. The best away pair were the team of Colin and John Wayman from Exeter Golf Club who scored 42 points.
In the mid-week stableford played on Wednesday, May 15 it was Neil Wilson who won with a fantastic score of 40 points.
The ladies Spring meeting and LGU Medal 2 was played on Thursday, May 16 which saw Fran Shrubsole take top spot with a nett 74 to win the overall and Division One prize.
Shirley Stunell finished second in Division One with a nett 80, while in Division Two it was Joyce Gilg who claimed first prize with a nett 74 beating Penny Long who scored a nett 76 to finish second.
In the nine-hole competition it was Linda Gill who drove to victory with a nett 42 on the front nine.
There were some amazing scores in the May Medal and Chairman’s Cup competition played on Saturday, May 18.
Paul Sandercock shot an incredible 76 gross 64 nett to win the May medal, the Chairman’s Cup and top prize in Division One.
Ashley Cross finished in second place with a nett 65.
In Division Two Simon Mannell claimed first place with a nett 68 and was closely followed by John Welsh with nett 69.
In Division Three it was Tim Andrews who took top spot with a nett 64 with Neil Wilson finishing in second place with nett 67 and Matthew Arnold won this month’s scratch prize with a gross 75.
Downes Crediton also beat the point of Polzeath in the Annodata Inter Club matchplay event last weekend with a result of 3½ to 1½.
