THE Seniors at Downes Crediton Golf Club competed in one of their first team events of the season, a three player 3-2-1 Stableford on Monday, October 31.
Top of the leaderboard were one of Downes strongest threesomes Paul Fricker, Alan Draper and Cyril Dawes who posted an impressive 83 points to take victory by three clear points.
Second place went to Club Captain, David Taylor, Keith Blake and Mike Hammond scoring 80 points with John Essery, John Cann and Rick Eidam in third, three points further back, with 77 points.
Thursday, November 3 saw the ladies play a Canadian Greensomes Stableford and winning were the duo of Fran Shrubsole and Lyn Parry who scored an impressive 39 points.
Scoring the same 39 points but losing on the back nine to finish second were Ying Wong and Trish Wallis with Sue Bond and June Mitchell third posting 35 points.
A beautiful, crisp and sunny day, with the course in superb condition, Saturday, November 5 saw some fine scoring in a Club Stableford which was open to all members.
Two players, Martyn Sargent and Lee Perrot, posted fine scores of 42 points with Sargent taking top spot courtesy of a superior back nine holes. Ben Marchant finished in third place scoring 41 points with Matt Brooks (40 points) in fourth.
Sunday, November 6 saw Downes members compete in a three player team Stableford, two scores to count, open to all sections of the club.
Winning with a superb 77 points were the trio of Steve Bassett, Mark Clements and John Dean. In second place were the mixed team of Betty Willey, Tracey Chandler and Alan Willey who scored 67 points to beat Mark Cummins, Steve Gidley and Bob Hyde (67 points) into third with a better back nine holes.
