MONDAY, June 24 saw the annual Joe Liversage 4BBB Trophy played at Downes Crediton Golf Club and it was the pair of Mike Palmer and John Hooper who finished on top with a brilliant score of 46 points.
This score beat the pair of Tom Pettifer and Paul Fricker who also scored 46 points but lost to a better back nine while the pair of Graham Jones and David Moss scored 45 points to finish in third place.
In the midweek stableford played on Wednesday, June 26, it was Neil Chard who took the win with a score of 38 points.
In the ladies section this year’s Killard Leavy Foursomes was played on Thursday, June 27 and it was the pair of Sue Barr and June Mitchell who claimed the win with a great score of 31 points while the pair of Sue Jackson and Ying Wong finished in second place with 29 points.
In the 9 hole stableford competition it was Vivian Jordan who scored 17 points to claim top spot.
In this month’s Thursday evening stableford qualifier John Smale took first place with 19 points.
The annual Pro’s day was played on Saturday, June 29 with the Beat the Pro’s Texas Scramble in the morning and there were four teams that beat the pro team but it was the team of Simon Rogers, Mike Lander and James Stagg who finished in top spot scoring a 58.1.
In the afternoon it was the big match between Team Barry (Austin) and Team Devon (Greenslade) and it was Team Devon who prevailed this year beating Team Barry by a massive 30 points.
Team Barry’s score was 374 while Team Devon scored 404 with the pair of Mike Lander and Sid Rogers continuing the form with the score of the day of 48 points.
The Kirton Cup and Devon County Inter Club Open was played on Sunday, June 30.
It was a team from Tiverton Golf Club (Roy Ireland, Mark Fleming and Brian John Phillips) who finished with a score of 77 points to take both trophies.
In second place was Downes Crediton’s very own Martin Garnsey, Nick Staddon and Steven Bassett from Dawlish Warren scoring 76 points, while in third place was the team of Joe Mcloughlin and Gavin Batten from Downes and their partner Carl Skinner from Tiverton who scored 75 points.
