THE Seniors’ Stableford at Downes Crediton Golf Club on Monday, January 24, saw some terrific scoring as a trio of players posted scores of 41 points. There had to be a winner though and by virtue of a better back nine holes that was John Dean with Nick Walker and Erice Fee following in second and third. Rick Eidam scored 40 points to finish fourth.
On a tough scoring day the ladies played a stableford on Thursday, January 27, and it saw Tracey Chandler who took the overall victory and topped Division One with a hard fought 33 points.
Fran Shrubsole finished second in Division One whilst June Mitchell topped Division Two with Sue Bonner second.
On Saturday, January 29 it was Howard Tubbs who stole the show in this month’s January Stableford.
He scored a superb 45 points to lead overall and top Division Two, seven shots clear of second placed Phillip Beasley (38 points).
In Division One, Richard Dyer posted a solid 37 points for victory with Martin Garnsey (36 points) second.
Leigh Davis continued his recent good form, scoring a superb 44 points to top Division Three whilst Martin Taverner finished second with 40 points.
The best ladies score of the day was 34 points posted by the ever consistent Kate Cornish.
