ON Friday, June 9, golfers from across the county will be gathering for the eighth Annual Save the Children Charity Golf Day at Downes Crediton Golf Club.
Always a popular summer event, this year has again been sponsored by many individuals as well as local businesses.
Local Save the Children Community Co-ordinator, Judith Ezard, says that the charity believes every child deserves a future.
She added: "In the UK, and around the world, we give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm.
"We do whatever it takes for children – every day and in times of crisis – transforming their lives and the future we share.
"This year’s golf day is dedicated to Dan Ezard, a former pupil of Yeoford Primary School and Queen Elizabeths’s Community College.
"Having already run two London Marathons for Save the Children, and cycled from Chiswick to Padstow, this year Dan has decided to take part in September’s gruelling Ironman Challenge in Tenby, Wales."
The competition on June 9 is a Four Ball better Ball team event with two scores to count.
A nine hole competition means that those who cannot compete over 18 holes can also support the charity.
One of the highlights of the day is a silent auction when bids are made for vouchers to play prestigious golf courses in the South West, or a crossing for a car and four people to France on a ferry.
Anyone wishing to take part, or support the event, is asked to contact the organisers, Paul and Judith Ezard, on 01363 772502.
