A SENIORS competition held at Downes Crediton Golf Club on Monday, September 16 saw some fantastic scoring and it was Ken Legassick who took this year’s grandads trophy with a fantastic score of 45 points.

His score also topped Division Two with Andrew Gilg finishing second with a score of 41 points. In Division One it was Colin Parr who took the victory with a score of 42 points with Alan Draper (41 pts) second.

Wednesday, September 18 saw Jim Dunlop come first in the Midweek Stableford with a score of 35 points.

This month’s Ladies County Stableford, played on Thursday, September 19 saw Joyce Gilg top score on the day with 32 points with Trish Wallis (32 pts) in second place.

Sue Jackson won Division One prize with 30 points but was closely followed by Anne Woodger who also scored 30 points but lost to a better back nine.

On a windy day Downes members put together some fine scores in the September Medal and Jordan Cup played on Saturday, September 21.

Simon Mannell top scored with a superb nett 65 that also saw him win Division Two by a single shot from Neil Ford (nett 66).

Rodin Mackay stole the show in Division One with a nett 66 and a gross score of 72 that also saw him win the scratch prize. He also won the Jordan Cup for the leading player who has represented the Club in the Dartmoor League.

Division Three was won by Tony Wonnacott with a score of nett 71.

Sunday, September 22 saw Downes Crediton host the Devon Golf Club Champions Final and home player Tracey Chandler scored a fantastic win in the handicap section scoring a fine nett 72 (one under par). Her gross 80 also saw her finish a very creditable fourth in the gross section.
