FOLLOWING the Christmas festivities Downes Crediton Golf Club members congregated on Boxing Day to take on the always enjoyable “Captain’s Cross Country Challenge”.

With plenty of fun and interesting extras added to the mix by Club Captain Graham Dyne, it was Peter Stunell who took top spot with a superb 27 points over nine holes followed closely in second by Matt Dyne (26 pts). Lyn Parry was the leading lady posting 20 points.

Saturday, December 28 saw Downes members play a team Texas Scramble and it was the trio of Mike Charnock, Andrew Rogers and Jon Cornish who took the spoils posting an impressive nett 63 to beat John Rance, Jim Dunlop and Arthur Moughton (nett 63) into second place by virtue of a better back nine.

Neil Maddocks, Phil Williams and Paul Williams (nett 64) followed in third whilst Shirley Stunell, Neil Ford and Peter Stunell (nett 64) were the leading mixed team.
