MONDAY, February 20 saw 70 Downes Crediton Golf Club seniors take to the course to play a better ball stableford competition. The scoring was very close with 17 pairs scoring 40 points or better.

Top of the pile though, and winning with a fine 44 points, were the duo of Vaughan Galavan and Richard Tomkins. Four pairs followed one point behind, scoring 43 points but Steve Gidley and Barrie Greedy finished second by virtue of a better back nine holes with John Smale and Jim Dunlop in third.

The Ladies played a three player team 666 stableford on Thursday, February 23, where all three scores count on holes one to six, two scores to count on holes seven to 12 and one score to count on holes 13 to 18.

Winning with a 63 point total were Penny Long, Viv Bailey and Sue Barr, three points clear of second placed Joyce Gilg, Shirley Stunell and Ying Wong (60 pts).

Once again Saturday, February 25 saw a strong turnout of Downes members to play a three player team Medalford.

Winning by five clear shots was the trio of Paul Williams, Ian Burridge and Robin Abrahams who scored a superb 16 under par total of 18.

Two pairs posted scores of 23 (11 under par) with Alan Draper, Josh Hill and Frank Morrell taking second whilst Dave Sims, Martin Garnsey and Kev Cole finished in third place.

The leading mixed team score of the day was made by father and daughter Matt and Josie Phillips along with Tony Rowe scoring an eight under total of 26.
