NEW Year’s Eve saw members of Downes Crediton Golf Club compete in a Club Stableford open to all sections.

Lee Chudley and Tony Melluish both posted “best of the day” 40 points with Chudley coming out on top courtesy of a better back nine holes.

The pair also topped Division Three with Doug Scott following in third scoring 39 points.

Matt Dyne won Division One scoring an impressive 39 points off of his six handicap whilst Andy Frankum and Maurice Curtis both scored 37 points to finish second and third respectively.

Division Two saw Steve Lay take the honours with a 38 points haul, two clear of a gaggle of four players, all scoring 36 points, the best of which saw Colin Wheatcroft finish second and Colin Baker third.

New Year’s Day saw indifferent weather and maybe a few sore heads from the night before which saw only a small number of hardy souls take part in the roll up Stableford.

John Ponsford took top spot scoring a fine 40 points beating Steve Basset (38 pts) into second with Mike Nott third scoring 35.
