MONDAY, May 23 saw the Seniors at Downes Crediton Golf Club compete for the Niblick, an individual stableford.
Best score of the day went to Jim Kenshole who posted a fine 36 points off of his six handicap. This also gave him victory in Division One, two points clear of Pete Caston, Mike Conder and Alan Willey who all scored 36 points to finish second, third and fourth respectively.
Division Two was won by Frank Morrell scoring 37 points with Peter Bryan second (36) and Joe Hull third.
Oliver Greenslade won the Midweek Stableford on Wednesday, May 25 shooting a gross 71 for 39 points. Steve Bassett came second with 37 points.
On Saturday, May 28, Downes hosted one of their most popular Opens, the 36 hole The Kyrton Pairs, which consisted of a pairs foursomes in the morning and better ball in the afternoon.
Vivary Park pair Phil Coleman and Jamie Short took victory posting 40 and 41 points for a fine total of 81. Two Downes pairs put in a fine effort to produce a home win but ultimately came up shy by a couple of points.
Dan Joint and Ben Marchant finished second with a 79 point haul and beat Mike Nott and Andy Frankum (also 79) courtesy of a superior back 18 holes.
Downes Crediton travelled to Thurlestone on Sunday, May 29 to take on Wrangaton in the Devon County Palairet Trophy. Unfortunately they came up against a team on form and went down 4-1.
