DOWNES Crediton Golf Club seniors played an individual stableford on Monday, August 20 whilst vying for the Mike Dunk and Phil Ollis Trophies.

The best score of the day went to Andy Gibson who posted a superb 44 points to win the Phil Ollis Trophy whilst also topping Division Two. George Crabbe and Rick Eidam both scored 41 points to take second and third respectively.

Division One saw Tom Berry take the win and the Mike Dunk Trophy courtesy of a fine 41 points with Brian Kelly (39 points) second and Cyril Dawes in third place with 37 points.

The week’s fine scoring continued in the Mid Week stableford on Wednesday, August 22 which saw a victory for Adam Hull posting 41 points, one clear of second placed Allan Vodden (40 pts).

Betty Willey stole the show in the ladies LGU Medal 10 on Thursday, August 23 scoring a tremendous three under par nett 70 to take a six-shot win over runner-up Di Parsons (nett 76) whilst Sue Sparham won the nine hole medal with an equally impressive five under par nett 32.

Saturday, August 25 saw Downes members take part in a Club Stableford open to all sections of the membership.

The best score of the day was posted by the in form Brian Kelly with a very impressive 41 points. This saw Kelly also top Division One with Alistair Todd (38 pts) second whilst David Taylor scored 37 points to take third.

Division Two saw Mike Lander score 39 points to take the win with John Smale and Stu Phillips both posting 38 points to finish second and third respectively.

In the Ladies Division June Mitchell scored 35 points to beat Tracey Chandler (34 pts) into second.
