MONDAY, September 27 saw Downes Crediton Golf Club Senior’s take on the ever popular Greenkeepers Revenge that saw the green staff come up with some quirky and interesting pin positions for the competitors to contend with.

The trio that were up to the challenge were Peter Chave, David Taylor and Mike Palmer who took victory with a score of nett 64.

Second place went to John Dowling, Graham Pateman and Trevor Stone (nett 65) whilst Peter Bryan, Peter Stunell and Dave Warren (nett 66) placed third.

The Midweek Stableford winner was Daniel Knight, scoring 37 points.

The ladies played their EG Medal 10 on Thursday, September, 30 and it was the in-form Stacey Ford who took top spot with a score of nett 76.

Ladies Captain Sue Jackson finished second posting a nett 80.

Gary Miles scored 17 points to be the winner of the Nine hole Stableford on Thursday.

Friday, October 1 saw pros and amateurs from across the West Country travel to Downes Crediton to compete in their annual Pro-Am sponsored by South West Galvanizers Ltd and raising money for CLIC Sargent “Young Lives Verses Cancer.”

Home Professional, Barry Austin, scored an impressive five under par 65 to win the individual by three shots from James Ruth (China Fleet) in second. Paul Hendriksen (Ivybridge Golf Club) posted a 71 to finish third.

The Pro-Am side of the event was won by Professional Johnny Rattenbury (Okehampton GC) and his amateur partners of Matt Parry, Will Searle and Paul Rattenbury with a great score of 89 points.

Three shots further back in second were the Downes team of Pro, Barry Austin, Ladies Captain Sue Jackson, Tom Grinney and Club Captain Peter Blinkhorn.
