PETER Stunell continued his run of good form on Monday, October 11 at Downes Crediton Golf Club to win the Seniors Roll Up scoring a solid 39 points.
Ian Pring (39pts) equalled the tally, but was placed second, losing out on the back nine holes.
Laurie Taylor scored 38 points to finish third, whilst Ed Copp (37pts) was placed fourth.
On a beautiful day with the course looking superb Downes Ladies played their “Daily Mail” Foursomes Qualifier on Thursday, October 14.
The top score of the day went to the duo of Sue Bond and Sue Bonner with a superb 40 points.
Stacey Ford and Shirley Stunell (38pts) followed in second and are also the qualifying pair who will go on to represent Downes Crediton in next year’s national “Daily Mail” competition.
Anne Woodger and Ying Wong (38pts) finished third.
On a day of good scoring Alistair Todd finished top of the pile in the Saturday (October 16) Stableford posting a formidable 45 points.
Alistair also topped Division Two five points clear of his nearest challenger, Joe Hull (40pts).
In Division One Jason Arnold stole the show as he recorded a gross 69 (one under par) for an impressive 41 points beating Sam Hills (41pts) into second. Division Three saw Ricky Buttle keep up his good run to score 41 points for the win whilst Liam Whittleston and Kevin Perry both scored 39 points to place second and third respectively.
On Sunday, October 17, there was a real “family feel” around the club as Downes played its annual Chandler Generations Challenge, an event that sees dads, daughters, granddads, stepsons etc or just friends with a 25-year age gap pair up to play a foursomes stableford.
Winning were the father and son pair of Adrian and Mike Snell scoring a fine 39 points.
Second place went to Rick Eidam and Neil Wood (36pts) with Ollie and Chet Greenslade (35pts) third.
