THE first Senior’s Niblick competition of the year was played at Downes Crediton Golf Club on Monday, April 29 and it was our vice captain, Peter Blinkhorn, who came out on top with a fantastic score of 39 points to win the overall prize and Division One.
He was closely followed by David Vowden who finished second with 39 points but lost to a better back nine.
In Division Two it was John Warren who finished in top spot with a score of 38 points with Graham Jones finishing second with 37 points.
This year’s Kenmar trophy, played on April 30 was won by Edward Copp who scored 33 points.
Jason Arnold took the mid-week Stableford prize on Wednesday, May 1 with a superb 41 points.
The ladies County Stableford Three played on Thursday, May 2 saw Lyn Parry came out on top with a score of 30 points to win Division One while Doreen Warren finished second with a score of 23 points.
In Division Two it was Trish Wallis who won with a score of 30 points while Di Parsons finished second 26 points.
Saturday, May 4 saw Downes members play the annual Rosemary Parker and 40th Anniversary Jug competitions.
Peter Russell stole the show with a fantastic score of 41 points to win the Rosemary Parker trophy and Division Two prize.
Gerry Tomlinson finished second with a score of 35 points while in Division One it was Robert Whittleston who came out on top with a score of 40 points with Nick West finishing second with 37 points.
In Division Three it was Simon Rogers who claimed top spot with a score of 38 points beating Chris Bowden who scored 36 to finish second.
In the ladies division Tracey Chandler won with a score of 36 points and this year’s 40th anniversary jug was won by Steve Whyte who scored 35 points.
