IN Downes Crediton Golf Club’s Chris Hogan Trophy (three clubs and putter) competition, held on Monday, March 4, it was Andy Gibson who took the trophy with a score of 36 points.
Andy also took top spot in Division Two with Graham Cox finishing in second place with 34 points.
It was close in Division One with four seniors all tied with 35 points but it was Roger Field who came out on top with a better back nine with Nick Bromell finishing in second place.
The ladies played a step aside Texas scramble on Thursday, March 7 and it was the team of Sue Bonner, Diane Botterill and Linda Gill who finished in top spot with a score of 47.2, while the team of Fran Shrubsole, Doreen Warren and Anne Woodger finished second with a score of 48.8.
Saturday, March 9 saw Downes members play a 3-player team Yellowball and 2 scores to count medal competition and with the conditions it was going to be tough for good scoring but as always the members proved it wrong with the team of Sam Dyne, Graham Dyne and Hayden Morris scoring a fantastic 128 (12 under) to win the 3-player team medal competition as well as shooting a net 63 with the yellow ball to win the yellow ball competition as well.
In second place in the 3-player team medal was Matt Redstone, Dave Taylor and Tim Andrews with a score of 132 (8 under) while the team of Gerry Tomlinson, Neil Bishop and Jim Dunlop finished third with a score of 134 (6 under).
Second place in the yellow ball competition were the team of Barry Tucker, Colin Baker and Adrian Cram with a nett score of 65 while the team of Tom Long, Quintin Payne-Cook and James Stagg finished third with nett score of 68.
