IN the Midweek Stableford played at Downes Crediton Golf Club on Wednesday, May 29 Matt Dyne continued his fine form by posting 38 points to win.

The Ladies County Stableford Five played on Thursday, May 30 saw Joyce Gilg take the overall victory and top Division Two scoring a fine 35 points.

Sue Barr followed in second place with a 31 point haul. Division One was won by Lyn Parry scoring 35 points whilst Fran Shrubsole (34 pts) followed in second place.

The Thursday Evening Stableford (nine holes) was won by Pete Carr with 21 stableford points.

Downes members saw in June with the Presidents Prize on Saturday, June 1. An individual stableford, it was Darren Clifford who produced the best score of the day with a fine total of 40 points.

This score also saw him top Division Two with Simon Mannell (38 pts) following in second place and Robin Abrahams (37 pts) placed third.

Will Cockerham and Ben Marchant both scored fine totals of 37 points but it was Will who won Division One courtesy of a better back nine holes. Pete Russell (36 pts) followed in third.

Division Three was won by Peter Stunell posting 37 points with Stuart Cowling in third place with 36 points and Kevin Perry in third with 35 points.

In Club matches, Downes Crediton B Team travelled to Tiverton on Friday (May 31) to play their annual friendly fixture. As always the match was played in great spirit with Downes coming out on top 3½ to 2½.

Downes ladies welcomed Ilfracombe Golf Club on Saturday (June 1) to play their County Presidents match. Making the most of home advantage Downes Crediton ran out 5½ to 1½ victors.

Sunday, June 2 saw Downes Crediton take on Woodbury Park at the Warren in the Devon County Palairet Trophy fixture.

Captained by Graham Dyne Downes produced a superb performance winning three of the five foursomes matches to take the victory 3-2 and progress to the next round.
