ON Thursday, July 22 Downes Crediton Golf Club held its first Lady Captain’s Day for two years.
The ladies played in either an 18 or a nine-hole competition in teams of three playing a variation of better ball, there was also a nearest the pin and nearest the wiggly line.
Mixed in were several holes played in the style of “Greenkeepers revenge,” which was cunningly set up by Rob and his team of greenkeepers.
Also Ollie Greenslade was on the 16th hole ready to take the second shots up the bank in exchange for a donation to the Lady Captain’s charity, Headway Devon.
Nearest the pin was won by Stacey Ford and nearest the wiggly line by Linda Gill. The winners of the nine-hole competition were Ruth Ford, Pat Jeens and Margaret Mapledoram.
The winners of the 18-hole competition and winners of the Lady Captain’s trophy were Becky Aven, Lyn Parry and Fran Shrubsole.
