THE pair of Fran Shrubsole and Ying Wong won the ladies four ball better ball competition at Downes Crediton Golf Club on Thursday, January 24 with a tremendous score of 44 points.

This beat their nearest challengers, Trish Wallis and Lyn Parry, who scored 39 points, into second place while Viv Bailey and Anne Woodger placed third posting 36 points.

Saturday, January 26 saw a packed field for the three player Texas Scramble and it was an amazing score from the team of Martin Garnsey, Maurice Curtis and Rodin Mackay that took the spoils.

They put together a faultless gross 57 which consisted of 13 birdies and five pars which when adding their +4 handicap gave them a nett 61 and a two shot victory.

Second place went to the trio of Chris Bruce, Tristan Kershaw and Steve Whyte with a nett 63 whilst Matt Redstone, Richard Dyer and Tim Andrews (nett 65) placed third.

The team of John Cornish, Kate Cornish and John Smale had the best mixed team with a great score of nett 66.

Barry Austin
