SENIORS at Downes Crediton Golf Club played for the Graham Thompson Trophy on Monday, October 10.

The full handicap stableford from the yellow tees, saw John Cann take the honours compiling a very fine 41 points to win the Trophy and beat Richard Tomkins (40 pts) into second by a single point.

Cann and Tomkins were also first and second in Division One whilst David Cousins won Division Two scoring 39 points with Joe Hull second with 38.

Patrick McVeigh took top spot in the mid week stableford on Wednesday, October 12 scoring a solid 36 points to beat Jim Hutchison (32 pts) into second place.

Thursday, October 13 saw the ladies play their last County Stableford of the season. Tracey Chandler once again proved herself as one of the most consistent performers, winning with a very fine 36 points.

Kate Cornish followed in second place scoring 34 points with Betty Willey (33 pts) a shot further back in

third.

Downes members competed in a roll up stableford on Saturday, October 15, which saw some very fine scoring.

Richard Belcher finished top of the pile scoring a tremendous 42 points that saw his handicap tumble from 14 to 12.

Doug Scott ran in second also posting 42 points but losing on the back nine with Derek Shaw in third place scoring 40 points.

Sunday, October 16 saw Downes mixed pairs compete in the Tomkins Trophy.

Alan and Betty Willey took top spot and the trophy scoring 35 points. Two pairs finished just a shot behind with David and Viv Jordan (34 pts) beating Lyn Parry and Dennis Wright into second courtesy of a superior back nine holes.
