AFTER a stuttering start to the season following the unprecedented rainfall Downes Crediton Golf Club saw all sections complete their respective competitions over the course of the last week.

Monday, February 15 saw the seniors compete in a three player two scores to count over a reduced 12 hole course.

The winners with a scintillating nett 76, 20 under par, were the trio consisting of Keith Blake, Andrew Scoots and Barry Lias. This still only gave them a one stroke victory over the second place team of Tom Berry, Keith Ham and Ian Pring (nett 77).

Four shots further back were a gaggle of teams scoring nett 81 but finishing third with a superior back nine were the group of Ken Legassick, Jim Kenshole and Roger Field.

On a beautiful day (Thursday, February 18) the ladies played an individual 18 par competition. This format that sees players compete against the course in a type of matchplay format was won overall by Lyn Parry with a fine -1.

This also gave Lyn a one shot victory in the Silver Division over Fran Shrubsole (-2). Winner of the Bronze Divisions was Rickie Pawsey who posted -5 to beat June Mitchell into second by one shot (-6).

More than 100 members turned out on Saturday, February 20 to compete in a Club Stableford which was open to all sections. On a blustery day the best score of the day, 38 points, was posted by Adam Hull.
