IT was Mike Palmer who won this month’s July seniors medal with a score of nett 68 (two under) to win Division One at Downes Crediton Golf Club on Monday, July 11.

Mike was closely followed by Nick Bromell who scored a nett 69 (one under) to finish second.

In Division Two it was David Moss who scored a nett 68 (two under) to take top spot, with Roger Gratton scoring a nett 69 (one under) to finish second.

On Wednesday, July 13, Scott Peters stole the show in the mid week stableford with a superb score of 44 points.

The ladies played a county stableford on Thursday, July 14 and it saw Fran Shrubsole score a fantastic 40 points to take first place while Tracy Chandler, who also scored 40 points, lost to a better back nine.

In the nine hole ladies competition it was Jill Yates, with a score of 19 points, who took the top spot.

Gary Price scored 19 points to win the Thursday stableford.

In the warm conditions on Saturday, July 16, Downes members played the July monthly medal and Hazeldon trophy and it saw Mike Thurston claimed the trophy with a super score of nett 67 (three under), which also saw him win the Division Three prize.

In Division One it was Matt Arnold who scored a nett 68 (two under) with the help of a unbelievable albatross on the par five fifth hole to give him the Division One top spot and he also claimed the scratch prize with a gross 72.

Division Two was won Gerry Tomlinson with a nett 71 (one over).
