THIS is my report while our players are on a well-deserved break after their record-breaking results.

I believe that the Devon and Exeter League will now take notice of them as the best village (local) team in the Devon area after 102 years (founded in 1919).

The team are also number one in the Premier League in Devon. I am also sure that none of the teams in the Premier Division will like playing Lapford, who are unbeaten at home since November 2018.

So let’s all look back to the matches played during lockdown as follows: Premier Division West winners having played 15 matches, thus having to play off against Lyme Regis for the Premier Division number one spot. They played at Topsham and won 1-0. Harry Leach scoring on 74 minutes.

So, having become Premier Division champions and East Devon area reps to play for the Throgmorton Cup, first in a semi-final against North Molton sports (North Devon area champions) with Lapford winning 1-0 scored by Harry Leach again, in 17 minutes, and with other things that happened the match came to an end at 5.15pm (kick-off was at 2pm).

So on to the Frogmorton Cup Final at Devon Headquarters in Newton Abbot against the Windmill (South Devon area side), Lapford winning by 1-0, scored again by Harry Leach.

I now know that the Windmill were poor losers by their actions before leaving for Plymouth and Millbay Park.

Also a friendly was played against Torrideside with a 4-4 drawn result.

So now the season 2021/22 begins with an away game against Okehampton Reserves on Tuesday, August 24 at 6.30pm.

So on to Saturday, August 28 at home to Lyme Regis at 3pm.

I appeal to all you Lapford people and others living locally to go along and watch the best village team in Devon.

Many thanks on behalf of the players, coaches and the hardcore supporters, not only at home, but travelling to away matches.

So onwards and upwards, and good luck to all.
