FIRST of all I am sorry for the wrong date for the friendly at home to Bishop Blaize.

Tomorrow, Saturday, August 29, Lapford will be at home to Braunton from North Devon, from the Premier Division, in another friendly match. As always, all are welcome.

The Devon and Exeter League has decided to split the Premier Division into two parts, East and West, with a mixture of premier and senior teams, thereby cutting down on travelling.

This means going back to the 1954/55 season when Lapford were in Junior Division Three West, yes when I first played.

For Devon County Cup matches which teams will be classed as premier or senior for the above, should they take place, in my opinion, travelling could have been done by not keeping Somerset and Dorset in the league.

What happens for the league set-up in 2021/22 season, I will not hold my breath.

Football begins again on September 1, with the following competitions taking place.

The FA Cup rounds start on September 1, on September 5 the EFL Carabao Cup, on September 19, the FA Vase and on September 26 the FA trophy.

The South West Peninsula league starts on September 5, with a maximum of 300 spectators.
