IT was another weekend of fixture disruptions for many Crediton Youth FC sides.

The U15s’ game against Kentisbeare Falcons did go ahead. It was a massive win for them as they ran out 3-2 winners. Goals from Ethan Moore and Will Hopkins put them 2-1 up, only for their guests to pull it back level. But a wonder-strike from Jamie Powlesland saw them grab all three points.

It was a high-scoring affair for the U12s but they eventually lost out 4-9 to Okehampton Argyle Vipers.

Sunday saw the U15 girls take on Torquay United Community Trust Blues in the league cup at Lords Meadow in a thoroughly entertaining game.

Amelia Gorska, with her first goals for the club, put the home side 2-0 up. The South Devon side scored twice to level things up, and with chances being created at both ends, it was the visitors who scored late on to go through to the next round.

It was county cup action for the U13 youth girls as they finally got their tie against Exmouth Town played. They put in a tremendous performance and ran out 9-1 winners.

Merryn Eatherley led the scoring with a hat-trick, Talia Greenwood a double, and singles from Emily Walshe, Freya Chesney and Mia Liebenberg White capped a fine morning for them.

The U9 girls travelled to Sidmouth for a mini tournament and again took two sides. Both sides both went out at the semi-final stages of the cup and plate competitions.

Connie Beddoes and Maisie Avery took the coaches’ player of the day awards, with Reina and Lily being chosen for the opposition’s awards.

With numbers growing in the U9s, the club are looking to recruit more girls to be able to field two sides on a regular basis.
