A LOCAL man sustained a cut to his head from flying debris from a building in Market Street in Crediton this afternoon, Tuesday, January 2.

Chris Harrison-Royce, from East Leigh, was struck by the falling debris as he walked up the road at about 12.15pm.

He explained: “It was really windy and I felt like I was being hit by shrapnel.

“Richard and Ayesha at Crediton Antiques Centre helped to stop the bleeding and now it just hurts.”

Loose masonry on a building in Market Street was removed by a businessman just an hour or so after the incident.

Storm Henk has been causing many issues in the Crediton area, including fallen trees, flooding, the cancellation of rail services and power issues.
