TO promote Crediton High Street’s shops and businesses a promotion board, designed by Crediton Chamber of Commerce has been placed in the foyer at the Crediton Tesco store at Wellparks.
All the High Street Chamber members are named on the board and they are able to put up current promotions and offers. Many non-members are also listed by type of business.
Chamber of Commerce chairman, Tara Conabeare, worked with local artist Jeannine Rundle, of Cheriton Fitzpaine, to design the High Street promotion board and Jeannine was presented with a thank you gift at the launch. An Exeter-based company made the board.
Tara said: "We are really pleased with the finished board and thank Tesco for allowing us to use the foyer space.
"Crediton Tesco joined the Chamber of Commerce in 2016 to continue and build on its work with groups and organisations in the area.
"The display is the first step to encourage up to 4,000 people, who visit the store daily to make that extra trip to the High Street and use the businesses there.
"The idea for the display has been keenly supported by store managers Stuart Bennett and Simon Anbany."
"The store’s community champion, Andrew Drayton said: "I am absolutely delighted with the display both in terms of how it looks, which is fantastic, and what it means.
"We have prided ourselves on the community work that we have done in the past and the next logical step was to join with the other businesses that make up the re-vamped and vibrant Chamber of Commerce to help promote the town as a whole as a place to come and visit, shop and enjoy.”
He continued: “It makes so much sense to help promote ‘Crediton’ as a brand because if people stop coming to the town, Tesco along with the other businesses will suffer in the long term.
"Our High Street is a great mix of some well-known names and good strong independent retailers, many of them specialists in their own field.
"This makes the look of our High Street unique, and I think that is something that the new display both highlights and celebrates very well indeed.”
The Chamber of Commerce and Tesco plan to jazz up the board at special times of the year including Christmas, Easter and Valentine’s Day.
Look out for special offers at local shops which will be displayed on the High Street promotions board.
