A NEW room for midwives to see patients and work in at Crediton Hospital has been officially opened.
The room is the result of collaborative working by The League of Friends of Crediton Hospital, NHS Property Services and the Royal Devon University Trust.
Pauline Bonner, Clinical Midwifery Manager, said thank you very much to all the people that have made the room possible.
“It is a long time coming and is a fabulous result.
“Thanks to those who sorted funding for it and worked behind the scenes to make it possible.”
Sue Murrin, Community Midwife, said it is a wonderful, usable facility and that she was delighted to be working in the new space.
Tina Slade, Locality Business Manager, said: “It was collaborative working that made this possible. I would like to thank everyone involved.”
Pauline Bonner was tasked to cut a ribbon to declare the room officially open.
Special guests of honour were Courtenay and Billy Lawton and their newly born baby, Lottie.
Also attending were Sam Webster and Stephen Turvey from NHS Property Services, Louise Adams and Rob Meylan from The League of Friends of Crediton Hospital and Sara Fox, Community Admin Support.

Pauline said that the room was used to see pregnant ladies for ante natal and post natal checks and support, to answer any questions and for health education.
She said three midwives, all part of Oak Midwifery Team, were based at Crediton and Okehampton Hospitals.
Louise Adams, from The League of Friends said that the League was very pleased to provide the £18,500 to pay for the conversion of the room, formerly used by a dentist but then since unusable, into a wonderful new facility.
She explained that the League is able to offer support thanks to donations and bequests and from fundraising.
She added that everyone was disappointed when beds were removed from the hospital but added that it is now much busier than those times, supporting many more patients, some of whom attend the large number of clinics at the hospital or who are seen at home by the community nurses.
