CREDITON Methodist Church has appointed a new lay pastor.
Cathy Jerrard was commissioned at a service on Sunday, October 4, led by Rev Simon Leigh, Superintendent Minister of the Methodist Exeter Coast and Country Circuit.
Ms Jerrard has previously worked for Barclays bank, and in the charity sector with the YMCA and South West Community Chaplaincy, mentoring people in the criminal justice system.
“Great news from Crediton Methodist Church!” said a spokesperson.
“Cathy Jerrard has been appointed lay pastor.
“There was a buzz of excitement and anticipation as people filled the church for her commissioning service.
“Cathy spoke of looking forward to the opportunity, and responsibility, of sharing the love of Jesus and serving in the local community.
“She has been a member of Crediton Methodist Church for the past nine years where she is a valued local preacher, steward and leader of a discipleship group.
“She has already met with the Churches Together in Crediton group and looks forward to representing the Methodist Church in Crediton.

Crediton Methodist Church can be found on Union Road in Crediton at postcode EX17 3AW.
It has a morning service every Sunday at 10.30am. It has an evening service on the fourth Sunday of the month at 6.30pm.
