TESCO Superstore at Wellparks, Crediton, is inviting children aged 10 and under to its car park on Sunday, October 30, for a FREE Hallowe’en Party. The idea behind the event is to give the youngest children the chance to safely "Trick or Treat" and have a bit of Hallowe’en fun at the same time.

The stores Community Champion, Andrew Drayton explains: “I was browsing on the internet for Hallowe’en ideas and I came across an event in America whereby a Mall uses its car park for parents and children to park in and basically ‘Trick or Treat’ between the cars. I thought this was a great idea to try and re-create in our car park.”

Andrew continues: “What we are asking is that an adult brings their car to the car park, where we will have created a ‘Party Area’.

"You can park in the party area, trick or treat between the cars and join in with the fun and games that we have planned.”

The party will run from 5pm until 7pm and local businesses have been invited down to the store to help with the party atmosphere.

The Creation Station will be providing some Hallowe’en-based activities and Candimama will be selling their Hallowe’en Confectionery Treats.

Crediton Pet Shop will be helping out with an especially scary Creepy Crawly Challenge.

There will also be a Magic Show, music, face painting and an Apple Bobbing Competition and prizes to be won for the best costumes for children and adults and pumpkin carving.

Andrew commented that: “Unfortunately we cannot have naked flames during the party so bring a small torch or an LED tea light to light your pumpkin with.”

Andrew is looking forward to a real party atmosphere at the store, explaining: “We’ve asked some of the local businesses to come and join the fun.

"All of our staff will be in fancy dress and we’ll be giving away prizes for best costumes, children and adults, and would like to see some great pumpkin carvings as we have prizes for them too.”

If you are interested in booking a space at this new Crediton event then call Andrew on 07718 533069 or email: crediton@communityattesco.co.uk , putting Hallowe’en Party as the subject.

Andrew re-iterated the need to book, saying: “We will have limited space at the party so please book early if you want to come down.

"We would like adults as well as children to get into the spirit by dressing up in suitable Hallowe’en dress.

"We hope that it will be a lot of fun and if it’s a success there is no reason why we can’t do it again.”

The store’s new manager, Simon Anbany, was delighted with the idea and the creation of a new community event.

He said: “Since I have been at the store I have encouraged all of our colleagues to get involved with the community work that the store does.

"We try and support as many aspects of, and groups within, the Crediton district as we can and the idea of a free party for the youngest members of that community is a great way to engage.

"It’s also a bonus that we can include other local businesses as well, providing opportunity for members of a different aspect of the Crediton business community.

"I hope that lots of people come down and have a great time.”
