NEARLY a thousand Christmas cards were delivered in Crediton by the First Crediton Scouts Christmas postal service just before Christmas.

Post boxes and stamp buying facilities were available from mid November until just before Christmas at many shops and businesses in the town.

The Scouts charged just 25p for each Christmas card delivered in the town.

After the deadline closed, all the cards were sorted by volunteers and then delivered by the Scouts, Beavers, Cubs, Leaders, parents and other volunteers.

George Davey, on behalf of Crediton Scouts, said the service was another great success and raised more than £196 for the First Crediton Scout funds, just a few pounds less than last year.

He added special thanks to all the shops and businesses which accommodated the boxes and sold stamps and thanked the public for using the service.ORDER YOUR DIGITAL EDITION HERE
