RESIDENTS across Crediton and Mid Devon are invited to come together for a vibrant Community Day on Sunday, July 12, taking place from 9am to 4pm at Active Crediton, Lords Meadow Industrial Estate, Commercial Road, Crediton.
Organised by Active Mid Devon Crediton in partnership with Involve Mid Devon, the event promises a full day of accessible, affordable and engaging activities designed to promote health, wellbeing and community connection under the banner: “Your Community – Your Health.”
Free and Low-Cost Activities for All Ages
The Community Day will offer a wide range of activities, many of which are free, with select sessions costing just £1 for non-members.
The day begins with a coached lane swimming session (9am to 10am) in partnership with Crediton and District Swimming Club, followed by a Mega Medley Fitness Class (9.15am to 10am) and a Family Float Session (10am to 11am).
Later in the day, attendees can enjoy:
• Social Pickleball (11am to 1pm) – open to beginners and experienced players alike
• Discounted public swimming (2pm to 4pm) across both pools
Selected activities have limited spaces and advance booking is recommended.
Health, Wellbeing and Lifesaving Skills
Throughout the day, visitors can access free health checks and advice, including:
• Blood pressure and cholesterol checks
• BMI and weight assessments
• General health and wellbeing guidance
There will also be opportunities to learn basic CPR skills, offering attendees practical knowledge that could help save a life.
Community at the Heart
A key feature of the day is the Community Stalls (10am to 1pm), showcasing a wide range of local organisations and support services, including: Crediton Foodbank, Crediton Lions, Devon Family Hubs, Involve Mid Devon, Royal British Legion (Crediton branch), ECOE Advice, Exeter University research projects and many more.
The stalls provide an opportunity for residents to connect with local groups, learn about available services and discover ways to get involved in the community.
Accessible, Inclusive and Welcoming
The event is designed to be inclusive and accessible, with many sessions available as drop-in activities. Whether residents are looking to try something new, improve their health or simply meet others, Community Day offers something for everyone.
