A CYCLIST, a local man in his 80s, has died following a collision on a rural road at East Worlington near Crediton on Wednesday, July 1.

Devon and Cornwall Police report that they were notified of the collision at around 1.20pm on Wednesday and that it involved a John Deere tractor towing a trailer and an electric-assisted bicycle.

Police said that they are investigating the fatal road traffic collision and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

They add: “As a result of the collision, the cyclist, a local man in his 80s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“The road was closed for some time whilst the investigation took place. The vehicles were recovered and the scene was handed over to the local authority just before 11pm.

“The Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public for their patience.

“We are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time of the collision and may have seen anything or have dashcam footage.
