HUNDREDS of people went along to see the switch-on of the lights on the giant Christmas tree in Crediton Town Square on Saturday, November 29.

The Crediton Town Council event, which began at 1pm, featured a Christmas market, food and drink stalls, live music from local choirs and QE band Burnt Daylight, Morris dancers, a chance to meet Santa in his grotto, family activities and more.

Local children took part in a lantern and light parade, which proceeded down North Street to the Town Square before the Christmas lights on the 25-foot-tall tree were switched on at 5pm.
