CREDITON Town Band has presented £720 to the Royal Devon Hospitals Charity, the result of a well-attended Concert to Celebrate the Musical Life of former Musical Director of the Band, Chris Taylor.

It was held in Crediton Parish Church on October 11, admission to the concert by donation.

Tom Darby-Clark, fundraiser with the charity, received the concert proceeds from Band Chairman Chris Richards and Band member Mrs Margaret Taylor, Chris’s widow, before a rehearsal evening held at Hayward’s Primary School.

Gil Taylor, Chris’s younger brother, spoke during the concert and conducted the Town Band for a hymn.  AQ 5295

Tom expressed thanks and said that the donation would go towards the charity’s Super Theatre Appeal.

Mr Taylor was a highly respected euphonium player, band trainer and Musical Director, well-known throughout the brass band world.

The concert included Chris’s favourites music with solos by Mrs Taylor and son, Rob.
