MORE than 50 tractors and drivers took part in a Charity Tractor Run on Sunday, February 22 in aid of the charity Farming Community Network and Newton St Cyres Young Farmers’ Club.

Organised by Newton St Cyres YFC, the May family who run Exe Valley Farm Shop hosted the meet up before the event started at 11am.
Before the start there was a stewards and drivers briefing from Angie Prouse on behalf of the Club.
She explained that the route would take the tractors to Thorverton, Cadbury, Cheriton Fitzpaine, Stockleigh Pomeroy and Raddon Top, Shute Cross, Upton Pyne, Brampford Speke and Thorverton before returning to Exe Valley Farm Shop.

Angie explained that this was the second year such a tractor run had taken place, the event last year held in memory of a farmer and farm contractor from the Crediton area which exceeded all expectations.
Last year’s event took place at Winscott Barton to remember Steve Yeandle, who sadly died in May 2024 aged just 65 years.
It saw 121 tractors take part.

Angie announced that last year’s event raised the staggering sum of £10,600 in aid of Pancreatic Cancer and British Heart Foundation and in memory of Steve.
Jack Yeandle thanked all who took part last year and wished everyone a good tractor run.

Neville Lane from Farming Community Network spoke about the charity and spoke of the success of the organisation and mentioned particularly the success of its Vintage Farmers Clubs.
He said between 40 and 50 people regularly attend the Crediton Club get togethers and said a Tiverton Club would be starting on March 11.

There were many spectators at vantage points along the route.
Thanks were extended to all who attended, tractor drivers, stewards and all who donated or contributed in any way.
