Shops and businesses entered into the spirit of Christmas
MANY local shops and businesses stayed open late on Saturday, November 26 during the Christmas in Crediton celebrations when around 2,000 people came in to the town to watch or take part in the event.
A number of local shops had decorated their windows with stunning displays, most with the Christmas in Crediton theme Santa’s Toy Shop and many were dressed up for the event.
Crediton Chamber of Commerce organised a festive pudding and spoon race which was open to all the shops and businesses in the town.
There were 12 runners; 10 elves, one snowman and one leopard who took part in the race which was won by Emma from A J Cox Butchers. The puddings were made by Oliver’s Bakery.
A bottle of champagne was awarded to the best dressed trader by Bruce Evans of Grape & Grain on behalf of Crediton Chamber to the winner Megan Pearn of Susan’s Flower Shop, who was dressed as Frostie the Snowman.
The High Street was lit up by Christmas trees on the front of shops and businesses and there was a wonderful festive atmosphere.
