UPDATE: Crediton male was arrested on assault and damage charges

DEVON and Cornwall Police have given an update on the arrest of a male at Jockey Hill roundabout in Crediton at about 3.15pm on Sunday, August 24.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called shortly before 2pm on Sunday, August 24, following a report a male had assaulted a woman in East Street, Crediton.

“Officers attended and located a suspect and victim who refused to engage and left the scene.

“The suspect was then located on Belle Parade where he became violent towards arresting officers.

“A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of three assaults on emergency workers and criminal damage and has been released on police bail.

“He was also arrested on suspicion of common assault but will face no further police action in relation to that offence.”

POLICE arrested a man at Jockey Hill roundabout in Crediton at about 3.15pm today, Sunday, August 24.

Two police crews were at the scene at about 2.30pm and officers detained the man partly on the pavement and roadway.

A further police car and a riot van then attended and assisted with the arrest and placing of the man in handcuffs into the back of the riot van.
