THE 15th annual Rose and Crown Motorcycle Show and Meet will take place at the Rose and Crown, Sandford on Saturday, July 18 from 1pm to 6pm.

Last year’s event was held on a lovely, sunny day and more than 400 bikers went along with their gleaming bikes.

The event was a great success and raised £2,014 for the charity, the Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT).

This year’s show and meet will also raise funds for the charity and motorcyclists from all walks of life and all lifestyles will come together for some of the special camaraderie well-known in the biking world.

There will be scooters, classic bikes, modern bikes, customised machines, trikes and sidecar outfits and more.

Riders will be attending from far and wide converging on Sandford to meet old and new friends and show their bikes.

There will be competitions for the Best Custom, Best Trike, Best Classic, Best Sports, Best Rat, Best Vintage or Veteran, Best Paint Job, Best Streetfighter and Best Sidecar Outfit.

In addition, there was the Landlord’s Choice, chosen by Andy and Jill, publicans of the Rose and Crown pub.

There will be live music throughout the afternoon from the bands “Audius Maximus” and “Skin Deep”.

The pub will be serving their usual high standard meals throughout the day, as well as real ales and local cider plus soft drinks, coffee and tea. There will also be a barbecue offering burgers and hot dogs.

Entry to the show and meet will be just £2 for bike and rider and £1 for pillion or on foot (under 16s free), all bikes being free to enter the competitions.

Parking is available at the village playing fields for those not in competitions.

The organisers promise that a stunning collection of bikes will be on display and local bike dealers and clubs will have stands.

Camping is available and this should be pre-booked with Ruth or Rob on 01363 777087 or 07891 466306.

In addition to thanks being expressed to the Rose and Crown, thanks have also been expressed to the following for helping to make the event possible: Ralph Tancock for loan of the field, Jim and Brenda Strong for use of the garden thoroughfare, Sandford Playing Field for use of the field for parking and sponsors: Treen Motors, Meadowside Garage, Jewell’s Garage, R J Tyres, Mid Devon Tyres, Dave Totterdell and A and S Paving.

For a pleasant afternoon, with fun for all the family, why not go along on Saturday, July 18.
