CREDITON COURIERSUNDAY, May 3 saw Downes Crediton Golf Club's Palairet team victorious the first round of the Devon County Golf Union Palairet Inter Club event against Budleigh Town Artisans, played at Dawlish Warren Golf Club.

Downes GC managed a 4-1 victory and now face Portmore golf club at Padbrook Park Golf Club on Sunday, May 31.

A mid-week stableford on Wednesday, May 6 was won by Paul Sandercock with 29 points with Dave Hill in second place with 28 points.

The club held its first open of the year, the Ladies 3-2-1 team open, on Thursday, May 7.

The leading away team were from Tiverton Golf Club, Trisha Bending, Maureen Postles and Bridget Grieves with a score of 74 points.

The leading mixed club team were from Downes GC and St Enodoc Golf Club, Judith Ezard, Fran Shrubsole and Celia Jarvis with a score of 71 points.

The best home players score and best score on the day, with an incredible 84 points, were Penny Long, Ying Wong and Ruth Ford.

Saturday, May 9, saw the men play The Rosemary Parker Memorial Stableford.

Division One winner with 42 points was Keith Sprague, in second place was Michael Delling with 39 points and third was David Slee with 39 points.

Division Two winner with 40 points was Darren Clifford, in second place was Barrie Phillips with 37 points. Third, also with 37 points but just losing out on countback, was Brian Kelly.

Division Three and overall winner with 43 points was Will Cockerham, second was Ray Kelly with 41 points and in third place with 36 points was Adrian Cram.
