ONCE again Downes Crediton Golf Club members and visitors enjoyed a week of playing on full greens and some made the most of it with some tremendous scores.

On Monday, November 17 the seniors played an individual Stableford. The "best of the day" came fron Arthur Moughton who posted a great score of 46 points that boasted eight three-pointers and one four-pointer during the course of the round.

This won him Division Two by seven points over second placed Tom Pettifer (39) and nine points over third placed Alan Matthews (37).

Division One was won by Alan Willey with 42 points whilst in second place was the ever-consistent Cyril Dawes with 39 points. Third was Wally Phillips with 36 points.

Saturday, November 22 saw the final event of the winter festive competition - the Spirit Stableford.

The weekend continued the good scoring of earlier in the week with "the best of the day" score going to Duncan White with a spectacular 49 points. Duncan, who had 'the best game of his life', his best gross score previously being a 90 compared to the 79 he shot, showed no early signs of what was about to come as he made the turn two under his handicap.

The back nine though comprised of five three pointers, three four pointers and a lone two pointer for a total of 29 stableford point and 49 overall.

This won him Division Three by eight points over the in-form Arthur Moughton (41) with Peter Blinkhorn third with 39.

Winning Division One was Tom Berry with a great 45 points off of his 12 handicap.

Five points behind in second place (40) came Martin Jose with Crediton vice captain, Tristan Kershaw (38), in third.

Division Two saw Jon Piper prevail with another 45 points six points clear of second place David Hill (39) and third place Alan Willey (39).

Next Saturday sees a Texas Scramble 9am Shotgun start where afterwards all of the Christmas competition winners will receive their prizes.
