NEARLY 200 gifts and toys have been donated to children receiving hospital treatment thanks to the kind-hearted members and staff at Exeter’s leisure centres.

The items were delivered to the Children’s Emergency Department and Bramble Ward at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

The gifts were collected over the last few weeks from people using Exeter City Council’s leisure centres, as well members of staff.

Cllr Duncan Wood, Lead Councillor for Leisure Services and Healthy Living, said: “It was wonderful to see the smiles these gifts brought.

“We are so immensely proud to be able to support the amazing staff at the hospital and bring a little comfort and joy to children and families during what can be a very difficult time.

“I would like to thank everyone who donated - your generosity certainly makes a difference!”
