AS many as 650 runners took part in Exeter City Community Trust’s River Run 10k on Friday, June 26.
With temperatures still high, organisers laid on extra water stations, “mist” stations and brought in additional medical staff to keep runners safe.
An 11-strong team from Exeter City Football Club, including manager Matt Taylor, joined the event – with assistant manager Dan Green, taking the overall race title.
A group of youngsters also took on the charity’s latest running event – the Grecian Mile. Designed for young people aged under 16, the Grecian Mile is a fundraising event, which so far has raised more than £1,000 for the organisation, the partner charity of Exeter City Football Club.
Exeter City Community Trust stages running events of varying distances throughout the year. It has recently added a new autumn half marathon and five-mile event on September 13.
All proceeds from the events contribute to the charity’s work, delivering health, education and wellbeing activities.
