PENRYN 72–36 CREDITON RFC WOMEN XV
CREDITON battled hard to the final whistle in a tough final game of the season away at Penryn.
With no appointed referee available, thank you to Penryn’s fixtures secretary for stepping in to officiate.
Penryn came out firing with two early tries to lead 12–0, but Crediton showed real grit to respond. A turnover from the restart saw Alice power through three defenders and sprint half the length of the pitch to score under the posts. Conversion just missed, 12–5.
Penryn struck back quickly, but Crediton stayed composed. After a strong midfield battle, the ball went wide to Libby, who finished well to make it 19–10. Momentum continued when Alice broke again, with Rachel adding the conversion to close the gap to 19–17.
Despite Penryn extending their lead before the break, Crediton kept fighting, showing resilience in defence and attack, with strong carries from Saz and a Penryn try held up over the line.
The second half saw Crediton under sustained pressure, spending long periods defending their own 22. Standout moments included a superb try‑saving tackle from Rachel and huge defensive efforts across the park.
Crediton finished strongly. Libby crossed again out wide following a well-worked lineout move, converted by Rachel, before two-metre queen Emma Davie powered over from close range after a determined charge to the line to round off the scoring and leaving Crediton finishing in fifth position in the league.
Full-time score: Penryn 72–36 Crediton.
A challenging match, but plenty of heart, determination and positives to take as we close the season.
Players of the match: Imy Davies, Sarah Kingdom, Rachel Mortimer and Alice Mahoney.
Thanks to everyone who has supported us throughout the year. See you next season.
