OKEHAMPTON Golf Club’s annual Two Castles Challenge open competition was held on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday 25.

A huge field of entrants enjoyed a weekend of golf and beautiful sunshine on two immaculate courses at Launceston and Okehampton, culminating with a prizegiving at Okehampton on the Sunday evening.

The winners of the scratch (36 holes) were Aaron Crabb and Will Bennett (Cricket St Thomas) with 78 points and in second were Damien Hammond and Neil Jopling (East Berkshire) with 68 points.

The winners of the handicap (36 holes) were Lee Carey and Billy Searle (Okehampton) with 91 points and in second were David Rowe and Oliver Rowe (Okehampton/Blacknest Golf Club) with 89 points.

First place in the mixed (36 holes) was taken by Clare and Richard Salter (Okehampton) with 86 points and in second were Marcus and Heidi Watson-Jones (Honiton) with 84 points.

The Single Sex winners (36 holes) were William Yeo and Steve Nelson (Perranporth) with 85 points and in second were Tony Ellis and Dave Elliott (West Cornwall) with 84 points after count back.

The winners of the scratch over 18 holes at Okehampton were Steve Peake and Paul Richardson (Teignmouth) with 34 points and in second were Kevin Pedrick and Phil Martin (Okehampton) with 32 points.

The winners of the handicap over 18 holes at Okehampton were David and Sue Stanbury (Okehampton) with 46 points and in second were John Ponsford and Nick Murch (Warren/Crediton) with 44 points.

The winners of the scratch at Launceston over 18 holes were Alan Searle and Kevin Cornwall (Okehampton) with 36 points and second place went to Adrian and Jake Couch (Teign Valley) with 34 points.

The winners of the handicap over 18 holes at Launceston were Nick Hart and Simon Brundan (Bovey Castle) with 45 points and in second were Pete and Rosie Robb (Cambridge) with 44 points.

Players, Judith Ezard and Fran Shrubsole recently cycled from Crediton to Okehampton raising £800 for the Lady Captain’s Charity, Parkinson’s UK.
