IN amazing conditions on Saturday, August 3, an individual medal competition was played at Okehampton Golf Club for the Brian Adams Salver (best gross) and the Bill Webber Bowl (best nett).

Division One was won by Martyn Cox with gross 75 nett 62, Ricky Wooldridge was second with nett 65 after countback on the back nine from, in third Rod Milsom-Smith narrowly beating Simon Taylor who also had nett 65.

The winner of Division Two and the Bill Webber Bowl was Matthew Mills with gross 78 nett 61, Brian May was second with nett 63, Richard Heslop was third and Toby Gostling fourth both achieving nett 66.

John Haley was the winner of Division Three with gross 87 nett 67, Tim Butler was second with nett 68, Chris Ball was third with nett 69 and Frank Nowell was fourth also with nett 69.

The Brian Adams Salver for the best gross score of the day was won by Gareth Holt with an excellent 69.

The ladies section entered a qualifying competition for the “Express and Echo” finals which will be held at Exeter Golf and Country Club in September and the winners were Marcia Collett and Sue Stanbury with 34 points and Sylvie Gowers and Sue Davies were second with 33 points.

Both couples will go forward to represent the Club.
